"In June 2011, I composed "Au cours du temps" for cello in tribute to Henri Dutilleux for whom I felt a lot of affection. This short work evokes the harmonic sounds (without mentioning them) from his marvelous string quartet "Ainsi la nuit". One can also see it an idea of my Violin Concerto from 1997 which he had particularly liked; the blending of two ideas or two tempos. Such a process is found eloquently in "Tapiola" or the last symphonies of Sibelius."
