"THE WONDER OF LIFE" FOR ORCHESTRA IN ITALY (TORINO & MILANO) BY ORCHESTRA SINFONICA NAZIONALE DELLA RAI CONDUCTED BY ROBERT TREVINO 09-10/09/2022
"- Trevino and the OSN Rai in Campo's The Wonder Of Life -
Trevino and the OSN Rai open the concert with the first Italian performance of The Wonder Of Life by French composer Régis Campo. Dedicated to musician, actress and director Coline Serreau, with whom Campo shares a love for Johann Sebastian Bach, the piece is inspired by the chorale Befiehl du deine Wege from the Passion according to Matthew. Conceived for large orchestra and written in 2020, The Wonder Of Life was commissioned by the Maison de la Musique Contemporaine for the High School Composers Grand Prix, and was premiered on March 25, 2021 at the Auditorium de la Maison de la Radio in Paris, with the Orchestre National de France conducted by Thomas Søndergård. The piece pays homage to the work of the great American director Terrence Malick, taking its title from two of his famous films, To The Wonder and The Tree Of Life. "

"Le résultat est stupéfiant. Il procède d’une démarche solennelle mais fourmille de fantaisie."
"- Dreamlike atmospheres with the RAI orchestra -
The MiTo program could not miss an appointment with the Rai National Symphony Orchestra: Friday, Sept. 9, 9 p.m., at the "Toscanini" Auditorium (Via Rossini 15) the concert Fantastic Lights, recorded and broadcast deferred on Radio3. It begins with The wonder of life - inspired by the chorale Befiehl du deine Wege from the Passion according to Matthew - by composer Régis Campo, born in 1968. With a catalog behind him that boasts more than three hundred titles, Campo tackles both vocal and instrumental repertoire with ease, while critics praise his colorful and playful style. Composed in 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic, The Wonder Of Life the composer emotionally commented during the premiere performance last year, is "a return to the light and the positive: a story of unity, like life. Presenter Benjamin François, to listeners at home during the live broadcast, advised, "let yourself go on a good soft couch, close your eyes, and maybe the magic of this piece will take effect." In the absence of couches, the Auditorium's red chairs will still do their good work. And not coincidentally, the title of the piece pays homage to the famous American director Terrence Malick - famous for his dreamlike atmospheres - and his To The Wonder and The Tree Of Life. Conducting the first Italian performance was 38-year-old Robert Trevino (pictured), who came to international attention, as has happened to many artists, after an unexpected substitution: in 2013 with Maestro Vassily Sinaisky on the podium of Verdi's Don Carlo at the Bol'šoj in Moscow. In the second part of the evening his baton will also conduct a milestone of symphonic music: the Symphonie fantastique op. 14 by Hector Berlioz. A work where the individual movements are images created by musical means, frames that unfold the story of a man - Berlioz himself - grappling with amorous rejection and troubled sleep: a film, written for orchestra in 1830."
